PACOIMA : Baby Dies From Injuries Suffered in Collision

A 2-month-old San Fernando girl died from injuries received when her family’s car was struck by a motorist who ran a stop sign in Pacoima and was killed in the collision, authorities said.

Vanessa Hernandez, who had not been secured in a car seat, died Wednesday morning from her injuries at Harbor-UCLA Hospital, said Scott Carrier of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

The driver of the four-wheel-drive truck who ran the stop sign at Fox Street and Oneida Avenue on Tuesday night was identified as Sixto Castaneda, 34, of San Fernando, said Detective Tom Whetzel of the Los Angeles Police Department. Castaneda died in the accident.
