Denis Savard scored twice in the second period, and the Tampa Bay Lightning held off another Pittsburgh comeback, winning, 4-2, Friday night to end the Penguins’ 14-game home unbeaten streak.

Brian Bradley also had two goals as the Penguins lost for the second time in 17 games. Pittsburgh was 12-0-2 at the Civic Arena--8-0-1 this season--since a March 15 overtime loss to Washington.

“There’s got to be a hockey god somewhere, I guess, and he said it’s our turn to win,” Tampa Bay Coach Terry Crisp said.

Dallas 3, Vancouver 3--Dave Gagner’s third-period goal pulled the slumping Stars, 1-7-2 in their last 10 games and winless in the last five at home, into a tie with the Canucks at Dallas.

Vancouver rallied from a 2-0 deficit, taking a 3-2 lead on second-period goals by Josef Beranek, Pavel Bure and Trevor Linden.

An anticipated confrontation between Bure and Dallas’ Shane Churla never came off. Churla spent most of the second period in the penalty box and was sidelined because of a knee injury with 13:57 to play. Churla had vowed revenge after being knocked out by Bure in a fight during a playoff game last season.

Hartford 2, New York Rangers 1--Paul Ranheim scored the tie-breaking goal with 6:54 left, and Sean Burke continued his hot goaltending for the Whalers at New York.

Ranheim, sweeping the puck in while lying flat on his stomach, broke a 1-1 tie with a shot that fooled Ranger goalie Mike Richter.

Burke extended his unbeaten streak to four (3-0-1) games, making 32 saves.

Calgary 3, San Jose 0--Theoren Fleury scored two goals and goalie Trevor Kidd stopped 17 shots to shut out the Sharks, who’ve lost four in a row, at San Jose.
