CHAN IS MISSING
In last Sunday’s movie listings under “Special Screenings” you have a listing for “Project A--Part 2” in which you incorrectly identify Samo Hung as the director. Jackie Chan is the director, as he was on “Project A” (in which Samo Hung co-starred).
It is bad enough that Jackie, who is considered a genius of action and physical comedy filmmaking as well as being a breathtaking performer, has been basically ignored by the American media and public for the last 20 years. But for an organization with the resources and reputation of The Los Angeles Times to mess up such an easily checked fact as the director of a film is really unpardonable.
Jackie doesn’t need an American fan base--he has the entire population of Asia as his adoring fans. But some of us do need Jackie and would like to see his films shown more often in the U.S. So please correct your listing and give the man the credit he deserves.
