Marine Drum, Bugle Corps to Perform
A free public performance of the “Battle Color Ceremony,” a mix of patriotic march music and precision military drills, is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Tustin Marine Corps Helicopter Air Station.
Performing the ceremony will be the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and the Silent Drill Platoon. The Washington-based military units travel more than 50,000 miles annually in making 400 appearances across the country.
The Drum and Bugle Corps, formed in 1934, traditionally appears at Friday evening parades at the Marine Barracks in the nation’s Capitol, and at summer sunset parades at the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Va.
The elite unit performs a variety of music, ranging from marches to jazz and pop selections. The Silent Drill Platoon performs an 11-minute precision drill routine without verbal commands.
