The Parks and Recreation Commission advises the council on public recreation and parks, including sports and recreational programs and services. It meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Los Alamitos Community Center.

The Fine Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission, which meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in council chambers, is responsible for organizing annual community events to promote art.

The Traffic Commission reviews complaints, requests and suggestions on traffic issues and makes recommendations to the council. The panel meets four times a year at 7 p.m. in council chambers.

In addition, Velin said, the Los Alamitos Television Board, which is responsible for public programming for local cable television, needs applicants for three open seats. Those chosen will serve three years, she said.

Application forms are available at the city clerk’s office at City Hall, 3191 Katella Ave. For more information, call (310) 431-3538, Ext. 201.
