Obituaries : William D. Pentland; Ex-Disney Film Editor
William D. Pentland, a former film editor for Walt Disney Studios, has died. He was 72.
Pentland, who lived in Camarillo for 19 years, died Wednesday at Pleasant Valley Hospital after a long illness.
Among the various films Pentland edited were “Parent Trap” and “Pollyana.” For 15 years, he edited the television program, “The Wonderful World of Disney” and he created the sound for two Disneyland attractions: Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Tiki Room, said his daughter, Amber Pentland of Vista, Calif.
He began his career cutting negatives and later became a film editor, his daughter said.
After he retired in 1985, he spent much of his time working on a garden at his house in Camarillo, said Amber Pentland.
Besides Amber Pentland, he is survived by his wife, Suzanne B. Pentland of Camarillo; two sons, Jeffrey W. Pentland of Tempe, Ariz., and Matthew K. Pentland of Fresno; four sisters, Pearl Erling of McCausland, Iowa, Vivian Walker and Julia Organ of Lancaster, and Marge Holdridge of Van Nuys; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Conejo Mountain Memorial Park and Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.
