CRENSHAW : Man Gets 14 Years for Shooting Boy, 15
A 19-year-old Los Angeles man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for shooting and critically wounding a 15-year-old boy at Dorsey High School two years ago.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Bascue sentenced Bryant Boyd earlier this week as part of a plea-bargain agreement worked out with prosecutors in January.
Under the agreement, Boyd pleaded guilty to unpremeditated attempted murder in exchange for the 14-year sentence. Prosecutors had originally charged Boyd, a reputed gang member, with premeditated attempted murder, for which he could have received a life sentence.
Boyd also pleaded guilty to special allegations of using a firearm and of “promoting his street gang” by shooting Glenn Browne Jr.
