NHL ROUNDUP : Sabres’ Hasek Kicks In Goal, Stops Panthers in Overtime, 2-1

Yuri Khmylev had an assist and scored the game-winning goal 54 seconds into overtime as the Buffalo Sabres beat the Florida Panthers, 2-1, Tuesday night at Miami.
Although Buffalo goaltender Dominik Hasek inadvertently kicked the Panthers’ lone goal into his own net, he also made 32 saves.

New Jersey 4, Ottawa 2--Defenseman Tom Albelin scored two goals and Tom Chorske got the game-winner with 8:02 remaining in the third period at East Rutherford, N.J.

Hartford 6, NY Islanders 4--Whaler forward Steven Rice had two goals and an assist as the Whalers scored five consecutive power-play goals to defeat the Islanders at Hartford, Conn.

Vancouver 3, Winnipeg 3-- Trevor Linden scored at 7:52 of the third period as the Canucks rallied to tie the Jets at Winnipeg.

Edmonton 6, St. Louis 5--Doug Weight scored his second goal of the season and had two assists as the Oilers won at Edmonton.

Kent Nilsson, 38, has ended his comeback try with the Edmonton Oilers after being out of the league since 1987. Mats Lindgren, a 20-year-old prospect from Sweden, is due to arrive Friday to begin play with the Oilers.
