THOUSAND OAKS : Village Square Center May Get a Face Lift

The Village Square Shopping Center may get a face lift to match the renovations under way just across the street at the Janss Mall, Thousand Oaks officials say.

Electronics retailer Best Buys has applied for a city permit to revamp the small shopping center at Moorpark Road and Brazil Street, according to City Manager Grant Brimhall.

“They are an outstanding company with an excellent track record,” Brimhall said.

“And they are willing to conform architecturally with the rest of the city.”

Although the shopping center is part of the city’s redevelopment area, Brimhall said the developer is not asking for any city help in funding the project.

The Ross clothing store already in the complex will be left intact, Brimhall said, but its exterior will be redesigned in a contemporary Spanish style, similar to the North Ranch Mall.

Brimhall said the developer wants to complete the project by October, in time for the Christmas shopping season.
