MOORPARK : Montgomery to Remain on Council
Moorpark City Councilman Scott Montgomery, who was considering resigning from office to take a job out of state, has accepted a position in Chatsworth--allowing him to keep his seat on the council.
Montgomery started work a week ago as a sales manager with Sercomp Corp., a printer company and a division of Mitsubishi. Part of the reason he took the job, Montgomery said, was that it allowed him to stay in the area. “We had a lot of people ask us not to leave, and fortunately we don’t have to,”Montgomery said.
Montgomery lost a bid to serve on the Board of Supervisors in November. Early last year he closed his financial-consulting business because of the demands of the campaign, and he worked nights delivering newspapers to pay his bills. He is still trying to pay off a campaign debt of about $15,000.
