LA PALMA : City Manager to Leave for Post in Sonoma

Share

City Manager Pamela Gibson announced Friday she is resigning her post, effective April 14, to become city manager of Sonoma in Northern California.

Gibson, who has been La Palma’s city manager for five years, was assistant city manager for three years before taking over as the chief executive officer.

“I have enjoyed my eight years in La Palma, and I feel that those years were very productive,” Gibson said. “I leave La Palma at a time when it is in a financially stable condition and has an excellent council and staff. My only regret is that I will be leaving many good friends.”

Gibson starts work May 1 as city manager of Sonoma.

Councilwoman Eva G. Miner said Friday that the City Council regrets losing Gibson.

“She has always been interested in retiring in that area, and when the opportunity for this job (in Sonoma) came up, she was picked over all the other applicants,” Miner said. “We’re sorry to lose her.”

Miner said the council will begin plans next week to recruit a new city manager.
