A week-old boy stolen from his mother Monday was found unharmed Wednesday, and a Downey woman who reportedly had a miscarriage in November was arrested on suspicion of kidnaping the infant.

Joann Santos, 35, was arrested at her home, said Sgt. M. J. Ervin of the Pomona Police Department.

Officers found Santos, her husband and the baby, Ervin said, adding that investigators do not believe the woman’s spouse was involved in the abduction.

Alexis Caballero allegedly was taken from his mother, Maria Magana, by Santos, who reportedly did not tell her family about her miscarriage and had tried to pass the baby off as hers.

Her husband apparently saw news broadcasts about the case and notified authorities.

Magana said earlier that the woman who took her baby had befriended her a month before the births, then visited her in the hospital. On Monday, she accompanied the mother to the Women’s Infant Children Assistance Center at 170 W. Holt Ave., where the baby was taken.
