Pop Album Chart : 2Pac Bucks Odds With ‘World’
- Share via
Most rap albums that debut Top 10 quickly plummet down the charts, but 2Pac’s “Me Against the World” continues to be a strong seller. Falling just short of the Top 10 the first week out were two legendary artists: Elton John’s “Made in England” (No. 13) and Stevie Wonder’s “Conversation Peace” (No. 16). John Tesh’s “Live at Red Rocks” New Age collection started off strong but remained at No. 54 in its third week on the charts. Pop singles: Madonna’s “Take a Bow,” which has been No. 1 for seven straight weeks, continues to fend off strong challengers, including Real McCoy’s hard-charging “Run Away” (No. 3). Dionne Farris has her first Top 10 single with “I Know” (No. 9).
* Despite all-star lineups, most tribute albums aren’t big sellers. This Zeppelin one, though, is an exception, debuting at a surprising No. 17.
