Center Pierre Turgeon didn’t wait too long to make his presence felt in Montreal.

Turgeon, obtained from the New York Islanders in a multi-player NHL trade hours earlier, scored the tying goal and assisted on two others, including the winner, as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Quebec Nordiques for the 10th time in their last 12 games, 6-5, Wednesday night at Montreal.

“I didn’t really think about how things would go,” Turgeon said. “I was so hyper.

“Everything happened so quickly. I just told myself to go out on the ice, and try to do my best to win a hockey game.”

Ater Turgeon tied it 5-5 at 9:36 Vincent Damphousse got the game-winning goal on a power play at 12:50.
