Increased Profits for IBM Predicted: Chairman Louis Gerstner said the computer maker expects good financial results this year. A profit for 1995 would give Big Blue two straight years of earnings, which analysts attribute to Gerstner’s restructuring since he took the helm in 1993. International Business Machines Corp., based in Armonk, N.Y., had a net profit of $3 billion in 1994, a turnaround from three years of losses. Gerstner said that although the dollar’s recent weakness may help IBM’s earnings slightly in the first quarter of this year, the currency’s level is not a significant issue affecting profitability.
