NHL ROUNDUP : Red Wings Run Streak to 10

Ray Sheppard scored twice and Viacheslav Fetisov had three assists in his home debut as the Red Wings extended their unbeaten streak to 10 games with a 3-0 victory over the San Jose Sharks Thursday night at Detroit.

Detroit outshot San Jose, 41-12, and Mike Vernon gained his first shutout with Detroit. The Red Wings are 9-0-1 in their last 10 games, their longest unbeaten streak since they went 8-0-2 in November 1991.

Winnipeg 5, St. Louis 2--Alexei Zhamnov scored his 27th goal of the season to highlight a three-goal first period at Winnipeg.

Zhamnov’s goal at 13:18 of the first helped the Jets take a 3-0 lead over the Blues, who have a 17-point lead over Winnipeg in the Central Division standings.

Edmonton 6, Vancouver 4--With Kirk Maltby scoring two goals at Vancouver, the Oilers ended a nine-game losing streak and gave interim coach Ron Low his first victory.

Scott Thornton had a goal and an assist as the Oilers won for the first time since March 20. Jeff Brown had a goal and an assist for the Canucks.
