Countywide : Measure M Oversight Panel Has Vacancy
Orange County Supervisor Jim Silva is seeking applicants for a citizens’ oversight committee.
Silva, who represents the county’s 2nd District, said there will be a vacancy in his district this summer on the Measure M Citizens Oversight Committee. The committee monitors tax dollars used for transportation projects.
Applicants should be 18 or older, have some background in community involvement, and have some knowledge of transportation problems. Application forms, which must be completed and returned by May 2, are available by calling Silva’s office at (714) 834-3220.
The Grand Jurors Assn. of Orange County will screen all applications and recommend five candidates to the Orange County Transportation Authority. The OCTA chairman on June 26 will select the winning applicant by lottery.
“This is an opportunity for those interested in transportation-related issues,” Silva said. “It’s your chance to see to it that taxpayer dollars collected via Measure M are spent in the best interests of the citizens of Orange County.”
