CAMARILLO : Civil Air Patrol to Hold Open House

Share

The Civil Air Patrol is inviting the community to view its planes and navigation equipment at an open house for the Camarillo Airport-based CAP Squadron 61 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

“We hope to use this event as a chance to acquaint the community as to what we do and how, if they are interested, they can join our organization,” said Dave Davis, the squadron’s commander.

An official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, the CAP conducts about 90% of all search and rescue efforts for downed or missing aircraft.

The squadron is made up of two groups, one for adults and one for youths ages 13 through 18, Davis said.

The open house will feature aircraft and equipment displays and information on membership. Several in attendance will win free flights around Camarillo. The CAP building is at the east end of the airport at 55 Durley Ave. For more information, call 486-5260 or 482-7598.
