Koerner died at his Ventura home Monday after a brief illness, said his wife of 52 years, Freda Koerner.
A native of Los Angeles, Koerner attended UCLA for a year before he transferred to Columbia University in New York City. He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in 1941, his wife said.
