Whalen Appointed Senior Vice President at First Interstate Bank

* Mark Whalen has been named senior vice president of First Interstate Bank. Whalen is manager of the bank’s Orange County real estate division in Newport Beach, where he oversees four commercial real estate lenders. He has been with First Interstate since 1979.

* Barbara Kenady has been appointed vice president of private banking for Northern Trust Bank of California in Newport Beach. She was previously second vice president.

* Rebecca Moore has joined Baldwin Productions in Dana Point as senior producer. She will be responsible for developing and producing video and film productions for Baldwin’s clients. She was formerly director of production and operations for Pay TV Movies Australia and producer for CNN/Turner Entertainment Report.

* Shane H. Traveller has been named chief financial officer of Worldwide Investment Network, an Irvine investment advisory and business consulting firm. Previously, Traveller had been principal of Savannah Capital, senior auditor for the accounting firm of Corbin & Wertz and an auditor in the Orange County office of Arthur Andersen & Co.

* Philip B. Branson, James M. Orphanides and John W. Long have joined the board of directors of First American Title Insurance Co. in Santa Ana, the principal subsidiary of First American Financial Corp. Branson is president of First American Home Buyers Protection Corp. Orphanides is with First American Title Insurance Co. of New York, and Long is president of First American Real Estate Information Services Inc.

* Jon L. Praed has been selected chief counsel to the Subcommittee on National Economic Growth, Natural Resources and Regulatory Affairs in the U.S. House of Representatives. Praed was formerly with the Costa Mesa law firm of Latham & Watkins.

* Randall L. Zaharia has been named vice president and portfolio manager with the investment division of First American Trust Co., which also is a subsidiary of First American Financial Corp. in Santa Ana. Previously, he was a portfolio manager and investment analyst for the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Zaharia also has been a senior administrative analyst with the Santa Monica treasurer’s office and an assistant vice president and portfolio manager with Western Asset Management Co. in Los Angeles.

* Steve Martin has been appointed vice president of sales and marketing for Russell Information Sciences, a Laguna Hills developer of scheduling software. He will manage sales and marketing from the newly opened East Coast operation. Martin joins the company from Digital Equipment Corp., where he worked for 17 years.

* Steven J. Hogberg has been appointed director of leasing and sales for Coreland/Donner, a Newport Beach real estate management company. He was formerly an office specialist with Bishop Hawk Commercial Brokerage.

* Mark Howard has joined Strategies, a Costa Mesa marketing communications agency, as project manager/copywriter. He has previously served as marketing communications manager for West Coast Medical Equipment Co., Vesta Healthcare Inc. and Abbey Healthcare.
