Rock Slide Closes Freeway Lanes

FRAZIER PARK — A rock slide closed the northbound lanes of the Golden State Freeway for 12 miles on the Grapevine on Monday night, authorities said.
The freeway was closed at 7 p.m. at California 138 after boulders, rocks and dirt fell onto the road, damaging a car near the Tejon Summit, said Officer Kerri Hawkins of the California Highway Patrol.
The southbound lanes were not affected, she said.
Motorists headed north on the freeway were diverted onto 138, sending them on a detour of more than 100 miles before returning to the Golden State again, Hawkins said.
Hawkins said Caltrans crews expected to reopen the lanes by 10:30 p.m.
