Film: Inspired by its success in distributing the comic-book-based film “The Crow,” Miramax Films entered into a joint film production and publishing deal with sci-fi comic book publisher Big Entertainment. The deal is part of a move by Miramax co-Chairmen Harvey and Bob Weinstein to expand Miramax’s Dimension label, which released “The Crow.” Miramax and Big have acquired film and TV rights to Mickey Spillane’s “Mike Danger,” set in about the year 2050; Neil Gaiman’s “Mr. Hero,” about a robot from another dimension, and “Lost Universe,” about explorers in a lost world. The two companies also plan to jointly publish comic books using concepts developed by directors and screenwriters. New York-based Miramax is a unit of Walt Disney Co. Big, based in Boca Raton, Fla., was started by Sci-Fi Channel co-founders Mitchell Rubenstein and Laurie Silvers and is known for its Tekno Comix.
