WEST LOS ANGELES : Man Accused by O’Connor May Face New Drug Charge

A prosecutor said Tuesday an additional charge of transporting drugs may be brought against a Brentwood man that actor Carroll O’Connor accused of selling cocaine to his suicidal son.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Steven Barshop made the announcement in West Los Angeles Municipal Court, where a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Harry Thomas Perzigian, 39, on a felony cocaine possession charge.

That proceeding was reset for June 9, when Barshop said he will present evidence to support the drug possession count and a new allegation: that Perzigian delivered cocaine to Hugh O’Connor, 32, before he killed himself.

O’Connor, who shot himself in the head March 28, reportedly was despondent over his lingering drug and alcohol problem.

Perzigian was arrested after a bereaved Carroll O’Connor, best known for his role as Archie Bunker on the 1970s sitcom “All in the Family,” publicly accused him of supplying crack cocaine to the actor’s late son.

Perzigian, a songwriter, was not charged in connection with O’Connor’s death, but was charged with possession of cocaine for sale. Police said they found cocaine in his home and a scale he allegedly used to weigh drugs.
