Santa Margarita Attorney Is Named to Municipal Bench
A Rancho Santa Margarita attorney has been appointed judge of the Municipal Court in Santa Ana, officials said Friday.
Steven L. Perk, 44, will replace Judge Wendy S. Lindley, who was transferred to Municipal Court in Laguna Niguel, said Steve Tatum, a spokesman for Gov. Pete Wilson.
A graduate of Pepperdine University’s law school, Perk worked for law firms Roberts & Associates and Tuverson & Hillyard before he became a deputy district attorney for Orange County in 1994, Tatum said.
As a municipal judge, Perk will receive an annual salary of $98,070, Tatum said. The appointment is for a six-year term, after which Perk must be elected by popular vote to continue serving as a municipal judge, Tatum said.
