Carl Stanley Gaydon; Teacher, Longtime Resident

Carl Stanley Gaydon, a longtime Ventura resident, has died following a brief illness. He was 83.

Gaydon, a teacher whose career spanned 38 years, taught at Anacapa Middle School in Ventura for 20 years before retiring in 1972.

A 49-year resident of Ventura County, Gaydon was active in the Ventura-area community, serving as a member and past president of both the Ventura Breakfast Lions Club and the San Buenaventura Professional and Business Men’s Club. Gaydon was also a member of the California Retired Teachers Assn. and the Community Presbyterian Church of Ventura.

Born in Covina, Gaydon also enjoyed gardening, bridge and was an avid golfer, family members said. During World War II, Gaydon served in the Army from 1942 to 1946.

Gaydon is survived by Katheryn, his wife of 54 years, daughter Diedra Marsh of Ventura, sister Molly Gaydon of Costa Mesa, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Ventura. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
