ARCADIA: A 42-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in a parking lot at the Santa Anita Fashion Mall on Saturday. The woman, whose name was not released, was returning from shopping at about 4:15 p.m. when a man grabbed her from behind, police said. The man forced the woman inside her car, ordered her to undress and sexually assaulted her. The woman eventually escaped.
DIAMOND BAR: An inert hand grenade was found Monday afternoon in a mailbox in the 23600 block of Sunset Crossing, sheriff’s officials said. They could not determine a reason.
HACIENDA HEIGHTS: A Bank of America in the 2100 block of Hacienda Boulevard was robbed Monday of an undisclosed sum of money. The robber did not appear to be armed.
HACIENDA HEIGHTS: A couple escaped from their burning home by tying sheets together and climbing out their second-story bedroom window Tuesday morning. The fire in the 2500 block of Dunswell Avenue broke out just after 3 a.m., fire officials said. The fire caused more than $300,000 in structural damage and $100,000 to the contents of the home. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
IRWINDALE: A 22-year-old Duarte man died Sunday when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a pole. Alfredo Mota died at about 9:10 p.m. on Buena Vista Avenue.
