WEST ADAMS : Health Screenings for Seniors Offered
The Golden Steppers Senior Citizen Assn. of the city Housing Authority and FHP Health Care are sponsoring a senior health festival from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Independent Square Social Hall and Garden. Admission is free.
Screenings and forums will be given on blood pressure, dental health, podiatry and other health concerns. Life Management Mammograms Services will also offer free exams. Other health agencies and organizations participating in the festival include the French Foundation Alzheimer’s Research, the Daniel Freeman Hospital Fitness Center, the American Diabetes Foundation, the L.A. Eye Clinic, Total Care Nursing Services, Western Convalescent Hospital, Medicare, Medicaid, the Arthritis Foundation and the FHP Health Care Nutrition Bar. There also will be music, door prizes, refreshments and food. The Golden Steppers provide senior citizens living in city-funded housing with activities, educational forums and other services. The Independent Square Social Hall and Garden is at 2455 S. St. Andrews Place.
