BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : Canseco Out Another Month
Boston Red Sox slugger Jose Canseco tore a muscle in his rib cage during batting practice and is expected to be sidelined for another month.
Canseco was on the verge of being activated from the disabled list after recovering from a strained groin muscle. He was taking batting practice at the Seattle Kingdome on Thursday when the latest injury occurred.
Canseco, batting .231 with one home and eight runs batted in, went on the disabled list May 15. He originally injured his groin muscle May 2 and aggravated it a couple of weeks later.
