A group of alleged gang members waiting to place an order inside a Diamond Bar fast-food restaurant Sunday night were chased outside by rival gang members, where at least four shots were fired, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.

One young woman was struck by a bullet in the parking lot of the McDonald’s restaurant and suffered minor injuries. She was not identified, said Sheriff’s Lt. Ron Moya. No one else was hurt.

Moya characterized the shooting as a confrontation between rival gangs.

The incident began at 8:20 p.m. when, according to a McDonald’s employee, a group of about six young men and women walked up to the counter to order food.

Before they could order, however, four young men approached them.

“The four guys asked them where they were from, and before you know it, they all ran out into the parking lot,” said the employee, who asked that his name not be used. “Then I heard about four gunshots. It all happened really fast.”
