HOLLYWOOD HILLS : Intruder at Madonna’s Home Had Made Threats

An intruder who was shot at entertainer Madonna’s mansion had gone to her home weeks earlier and warned that he was either going to marry her or “slit her throat from ear to ear,” Los Angeles police said Wednesday.

Robert Dewey Hoskins, 37, was wounded in the arm and hip Monday after leaping a fence at the star’s home and lunging for guard Basil Stephens’ gun, police said.

Hoskins insisted that he was Madonna’s husband and was carrying a 4-inch wooden heart that read “Love to my wife Madnna,” misspelling the star’s name, Detective Andrew Purdy said.

Hoskins also tried to scale the walls of Madonna’s home April 8, telling the same guard that he was going to marry or kill her, Purdy said. Madonna wasn’t home during either incident.

On Monday, Hoskins ran around Madonna’s property and took a dip in her pool while Stephens called for backup, Purdy said.

Guards talked him out of the pool and were trying to handcuff him when he became indignant, the detective said. Hoskins lunged twice for Stephens’ gun, and Stephens fired, police said.

Hoskins was booked Tuesday for investigation of making terrorist threats and stalking the star. He was listed in fair condition Wednesday.
