Countywide : Possible Self-Inflicted Gunshot Fatal to Teen
Police detectives are asking for public assistance in identifying a teen-ager who died Thursday from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was found in a Garden Grove alley.
The boy, a Latino about 5-foot-9 and 110 pounds, had a shaved head, said Garden Grove Police Lt. John Woods said.
A motorist found the youth in an alley in the 10100 block of Emerson Avenue about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday. The teen-ager was dressed in a gray sweat shirt, blue jean shorts, white socks and sneakers.
He was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died.
An antique Smith & Wesson .22-caliber short revolver, believed to have been used in the shooting, was recovered at the scene. Investigators believe the shooting may have been a suicide.
Police are asking anyone with information about the teen-ager to call (714) 741-5704.
