The Magic of Animation

Would you like to be the voice of a cartoon character? Electronically paint an animation cel? How about creating your own “Pocahontas” scene?
You can do all this and more at “Pocahontas Animation Discovery Adventure,” a Disney traveling show that lands at Glendale Galleria on Friday through Sunday, its last stop on a 24-city tour before winding up in Orlando, Fla. As a preview of the film, opening nationwide June 23, this is Disney’s first attempt at bringing its wizardry to malls across the country.
Participants not only will learn something about Early American history, but will be introduced to Disney’s 33rd animated feature, scheduled for wide release June 23.
Designed by Walt Disney Imagineering and the studio’s feature animation division, the free mall show also features a Powhatan lodge, a 26-foot replica of Capt. John Smith’s ship (Mel Gibson is Smith’s voice in the film) and a forest maze.
Open mall hours each day, Brand Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, Glendale. (818) 240-9481.
