Man Makes Charity Walk in Elfin Garb
Eldred Miller is rejecting standard athletic garb for his cross-country walk for charity--he’s dressing like an elf.
Miller, 69, started the 3,170-mile trip May 21 in Atlantic City, N.J., and hopes to reach San Francisco by Labor Day. He’s making the journey wearing green tights, a white shirt and vest with gold piping and bells, and a brown-and-green hat with a feather.
He hopes to raise $500,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., and Walk/ELF, an organization based in his hometown of Slinger, Wis. ELF stands for “Eat Right, Live Right and Feel Right,” and Walk/ELF raises money for cancer and heart disease research and sports medicine.
