I think it is about time we stop hearing about how Christian recording artists are not getting any attention from the media! While such sentiments may have been appropriate 10 years ago, I certainly believe I’ve seen some improvement. And what I appreciate in Steven Curtis Chapman is finding a Christian who speaks with such humility and comes off as genuine (“On the Wings of a Dove,” by Chris Willman, June 4).

While gold records and other awards may force an otherwise secular journalist to bring broader attention to a Christian recording artist, I believe it is Chapman’s character that made Willman decide to treat him with fairness and respect.

I was intrigued by Willman’s description of a contemporary Christian singer as being like “Bryan Adams with religious values.” Are we to infer that because Adams does not employ piety as a marketing strategy he spends his spare time knocking off liquor stores and snatching candy from small children?
