Singer-Songwriter Colvin Headed to Ventura : Grammy award winner sings hits from her three CDs in her renowned folk style.

Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin has performed and collaborated with country artists Mary Chapin Carpenter, Emmylou Harris and Roseanne Cash, among others. And on Wednesday, Colvin brings her critically acclaimed coffeehouse folk style to the Ventura Theatre.

Whether she is interpreting her own songs or material by Bob Dylan, Steve Earle, Tom Waits or even Tony Bennett, Colvin emphasizes the importance of lyrics. Hits from her three CDs include “Steady On” and “Diamond in the Rough.”

The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $17.50. The Ventura Theatre is at 26 S. Chestnut St. For more information, call 648-1888.

In recognition of the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II, KTND deejay Bob Allen and the Sweet Country band will be at the Camarillo Airport (Las Posas Road at the Ventura Freeway) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday as part of the Experimental Aircraft Assn.’s 15th Annual Fly-In Air Show.

The event starts at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast. Other attractions include vintage car and tractor displays and tethered hot-air balloon rides. There’s no charge for the music, but admission to the air show is $3 for adults and children 13 and older. For more information, call 644-9555.
