Man Killed and 2 Others Hurt in Head-On Crash
A 69-year-old Encino man died Friday afternoon after his automobile swerved into the path of an oncoming car on Magnolia Boulevard, police said.
William Joseph Kessler was pronounced dead about 3:05 p.m. at Sherman Oaks Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Kessler was driving west on Magnolia near Columbus Avenue when his car crossed the center line and collided head-on with a car driven by Lucille Ann Martinez of Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Bruce Heschong said. A third car, driven by Michael Stubbins, 40, of Lancaster, then rear-ended Martinez’s vehicle, Heschong said.
Martinez was listed in stable condition with numerous fractures Friday night at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys. Stubbins’ condition was not available, but Heschong said he had suffered bruises to his chest and was also admitted to Valley Presbyterian.
