TV personality Ruta Lee has agreed not to make unproven claims about vitamin sprays and a smoking-cessation spray sold on the Home Shopping Network, the government said Friday.

The Federal Trade Commission says Lee did not have “adequate evidence” to prove that the body absorbs vitamin sprays better than vitamin pills.

Claims that one or more of the sprays would heal mouth lesions, treat hangovers and boost energy, among other statements, also were made without adequate substantiation, the FTC said.

The agency also charged that her claims about the smoking spray are unconfirmed. The products are sold in “Spotlight on Ruta Lee” infomercials.
