OXNARD : Man Stabbed 17 Times in Carjacking

An Oxnard man remained hospitalized Thursday after he was stabbed 17 times by a suspected carjacker.
John Meza, 22, was listed in serious condition at Ventura County Medical Center.
About 1:05 a.m. Thursday, Santa Paula police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 300 block of South Steckle Drive. They found Meza seated on a curb, bleeding from stab wounds to his head, chest, back and arms.
A man reportedly had stabbed Meza and taken his 1979 Chevrolet El Camino from a nearby carport about 1 a.m. before fleeing.
No description of the suspect was available Thursday. Meza was taken to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital, then to Ventura County Medical Center.
The police investigation was continuing.
