As long as we’re in a Clint mood, Escape From Alcatraz (MAX Monday at 10 a.m.) features Eastwood in perhaps his best movie performance as the ringleader of the famous (true) prison escape attempt in this first-rate Don Siegel action thriller. Eastwood is convincingly forbidding.
The Fallen Idol (A&E; Tuesday at 2 a.m.) is a classic scripted by Graham Greene and directed by Carol Reed about a young rich boy who idolizes the house servant, played by Ralph Richardson, who is suspected of murdering his wife. It’s one of the rare movies that works with complete success through the eyes of a child.
