CAMARILLO : Council Approves Water Rate Increase

Saying it is important to continue encouraging water conservation, the Camarillo City Council has approved a small increase in the cost of water to residential users.
Voting unanimously, the council adopted the 3.23%, or 73-cent increase, during its meeting Wednesday night.
The council approved the hike to encourage water conservation and to make up for a small rate increase passed along to the city by the Metropolitan Water District.
City officials said the average residential water customer, who uses about 12 units each month, will see his or her monthly water bill increase from $22.60 to 23.33.
A unit of water, by city measurements, is considered to be about 748 gallons. MWD officials recently assessed a 19-cent per unit increase in the cost of their water.
The rate increase is scheduled to take effect today. Residential users will see the increase reflected in their August bills.
