County Clerk Draws Names of 19 to Serve on New Grand Jury

The 19 members of the 1995-96 Ventura County grand jury were selected Friday from a pool of 30 candidates who had applied or been nominated for the one-year term of duty.

County Clerk Richard D. Dean drew the names of the new jurors just moments after the 1994-95 panel was dismissed. The 11 applicants not selected for the panel will remain as alternates in the event a sitting juror must be replaced.

Nancy Palumbo of Thousand Oaks was selected as forewoman of the jury by Assistant Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert C. Bradley. Robert Silver of Moorpark, who was a member of the 1994-95 grand jury, was chosen to serve a second term with the new panel.

Members of the new grand jury from Oxnard are Geraldine Furr, Alfred Lorona, Harry Phillips Jr. and Janet Swanson.

Besides Palumbo, Thousand Oaks residents on the grand jury are Itaru Kawashima), Martin Marino and Mary Williford.

From Ventura, new grand jurors are Debbie Bumgarner, Leland Grizzle and Erik Traverse.

Simi Valley is represented on the panel by Lawrence Hainline and Michael F. O’Connor.

Camarillo residents selected for the grand jury are Barbara Baumstark and Josef) Gellman.

Chester Koski and Sabrina Simpson of Moorpark, and Elaine Hunt of Santa Paula, make up the balance of the new grand jury.
