Adolfo Murillo; Oxnard Resident, Avid Gardener
Adolfo F. Murillo, a longtime Ventura County resident, died Saturday after a long illness. He was 66.
Murillo was born in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, and soon moved with his parents to Chicago. He returned to Mexico briefly before moving to Ventura County about 35 years ago, living first in Ojai, then Oxnard.
Murillo, who was self-employed, was an avid gardener, growing roses and vegetables at home. “He loved to give them away to friends,” said his son Adolfo Murillo Jr.
He also is survived by his wife, Maria Murillo; daughter-in-law Lupe Murillo; daughter Esther Murillo; daughter and son-in-law Linda and Gustavo Muro; and son Ernesto Murillo--all of Oxnard. Other survivors include his brother, Jesus Murillo of McAllen, Tex., and sister, Ramona Villa of Delano, Calif.
A rosary service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard. The funeral mass will held at the church at 10 a.m. Thursday. James A. Reardon Mortuary of Oxnard is handling the arrangements.
