LOS ALAMITOS : Desormeaux Comes Back, Wins Jockey Challenge
Two-time Eclipse Award winner Kent Desormeaux is now a two-time winner of the Quarter Horse-Thoroughbred All-Star Jockey Challenge after winning the event Saturday night at Los Alamitos.
Desormeaux rode Like A Jewel to a runner-up finish in the first of two jockey challenge races, a 400-yard dash. Quarter horse jockey Joe Badilla Jr. won that race aboard Shiney Miles.
But Desormeaux rebounded in the second race of the series, guiding Speedy Lunch to victory in the 550-yard race and clinching his second jockey challenge victory. Desormeaux earned $2,000.
