Snack Food Division to Close: G. F. Industries will close its Bell Brand production facilities on Friday, idling 483 employees. Bell Brand has been on the sales block since January. G. F. Industries said it was unable to find a buyer willing to continue production at the Sante Fe Springs facilities. Grande Foods, an Orange County firm, has purchased the rights to produce and distribute the Laura Scudder and Padrinos snack food brands in Southern California from G. F. Industries, a San Mateo-based snack food operator. Laura Scudder brand chips and popcorn and Padrinos tortilla chips had been produced and distributed by the Santa Fe Springs-based Bell Brand Snack Foods, a financially troubled division of G. F. Industries.
