It’s Your Life : Fight, Great White to Fill Weekend Bill

Share

The fist-in-the-air party animal set--for whom “duuuuude” is a three-syllable word--will be rockin’ Ventura Theatre this weekend at a pair of metal shows by artists who were big in the ‘80s.

Fight, led by former Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford, will headline Friday night and Great White heads the bill Saturday night.

Fight is touring in support of its second album, “A Small Deadly Space,” and will doubtless do some of the Judas Priest oldies. Opening will be Zabitha, hard at work in the studio on a new CD, and wishing there was somewhere to play in its hometown of Thousand Oaks.

Jack Russell fronts Great White fish band that first surfaced on the L.A. club scene in 1982. According to the liner notes of a best-of album, “Great White is a live band, as in real live breathing sweat-in-the-armpits, stubble-on-the-chin, dirt-under-the-fingernails rock ‘n’ rollers.” Opening will be Diamond, a finalist in Ventura’s recent Battle of the Bands.

* The Fight show is $17.50 and the Great White show will cost a dollar more. Both begin at 8 p.m. Call 648-1888 for more information.
