LA PALMA : Residents to Pay $1.49 More for Trash Pickup
- Share via
Starting this month, residents will pay $1.49 more a month for trash collection because of higher county landfill fees.
The City Council this week unanimously approved the request of its trash hauler, Park Disposal, to increase the monthly charge. City Clerk Brigitte Charles told council members that the trash hauler must raise rates because Orange County has increased its landfill fees by 54%.
Mayor Wally D. Linn said the city was forced to enact the higher trash fees. “This is essentially a pass-through,” Linn said.
The council also raised monthly trash fees for commercial users. That increase varies according to how many times a week garbage is picked up at a company.
The council conducted a public hearing on the proposed trash rate increases before voting Wednesday, but no residents spoke for or against the changes.
