Hazardous Waste Center Extends Hours of Operation
Hours of operation have been extended at the Orange County Regional Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center, 17121 Nichols St.
The new hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and there will be no limit on the number of cars admitted to the facility.
In the wake of Orange County’s bankruptcy filing in December, hours at the collection center were reduced, and the facility admitted 100 cars during each day it was open. The reduction in hours caused long lines, city officials said, and many vehicles were turned away.
The new hours are expected to resolve those problems, officials said.
The hazardous waste center accepts paint, auto and household batteries, household cleaners, pesticides, hobby and pool supplies, automotive products, motor oil and solvents. A maximum of five gallons or 50 pounds of material may be brought to the center at each visit.
