Boy, 8, Is Struck by Car, Critically Hurt

An 8-year-old Oxnard boy suffered a broken neck Sunday when he was struck by a car as he ran across an Oxnard street.
Francisco Sinsun Jr. was listed in critical condition Sunday night at St. John’s Regional Medical Center. Police said his injuries also included a broken leg and internal injuries.
The accident occurred about 2:20 p.m. According to police, Francisco was running south along C Street with a friend, heading toward the friend’s house. He stopped, then ran across C Street just south of Rosa Street.
As he crossed the street, he ran into the path of a car driven by Segundina Gomez, 56, of Oxnard.
Gomez was not cited in the incident. Police are continuing their investigation.
