NEWPORT BEACH : Recreation Offered for Children, Adults
The city’s Community Services Department is offering a variety of themed summer camps for children as well as courses for adults.
Among the children’s camps for 6- through 15-year-olds are special sessions focusing on South African arts and drama. These weeklong programs at the Newport Harbor Art Museum will be offered at morning and afternoon sessions:
* “Pattern and Form” and “Theater Arts” beginning July 17.
* “The Art of Storytelling” and “The Mask” beginning July 24.
* “African Art and Dance” and an “African Arts Workshop” beginning July 31.
* A special two-session integrated workshop for teens starting Aug. 7.
The city also will offer weeklong sports development camps in baseball, tennis and basketball starting July 17.
