Vito and Eddie Sasso will be cutting...

Vito and Eddie Sasso will be cutting the ribbon this afternoon for the official grand opening of their Two Guys From Italy restaurant in Moorpark. These brothers, natives of the Italian port city of Genoa, are the original “two guys” who started the chain of restaurants in the mid-1960s.

“At one time, there were over 30 restaurants,” Vito Sasso said. “Now there are eight or nine.” One of those remaining is the Granada Hills establishment the Sassos opened in 1967.

The extensive menu at the Moorpark restaurant is highlighted by a list of 25 sauces that can be added to spaghetti, angel-hair pasta, penne, linguine, fettuccine, tortellini, ravioli, gnocchi or risotto.

Elsewhere on the menu is a wide range of homemade Italian fare including more elaborate pasta, chicken, meat and fish dishes.

Two Guys From Italy is in Gateway Plaza at Spring Road and New Los Angeles Avenue. The ribbon cutting is 5 to 7 p.m.

Visitors to the Santa Ynez Winery tasting room in Ventura will get a chance to puff on a fine cigar, sip wine and look out over the harbor during the first installment of Cigar Nights Under the Stars on July 20.

There will be a separate fee for wine, dessert, appetizers and the cigars. The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The tasting room is at 1591 Spinnaker Drive.

The American Dairy Assn. is accepting entries from children 10 to 16 for its Shake Yourself a Winner Recipe Contest. Entrants are asked to submit an original recipe for a milkshake that contains at least half a cup of milk per serving. Deadline is Sept. 2.

Contest organizers suggest entrants let their imaginations run wild, perhaps mixing in frozen yogurt, fruit, syrups, sauces, cookies or candy bars.

Five finalists will receive a trip to the Disney-MGM Studios in Orlando, Fla., plus a year’s supply of ice cream (a $200 value). The winner will receive an additional $1,000 cash.
